The Department of Graphic Design Technology is part of the Faculty of Applied Arts and Technology at Takoradi Technical University. The department is committed to developing students with the creative, technical and practical skills required to communicate ideas effectively through visual design.
Graphic Design Technology brings together creativity, visual communication and technology, giving students opportunities to explore how design can be used to communicate information, build identities, solve problems and create meaningful experiences.

We believe that effective design education goes beyond theory.
Students are encouraged to learn, experiment, create, evaluate and improve. Throughout their studies, they work on practical assignments and projects that allow them to apply their knowledge and develop confidence in their creative abilities.

Graphic design is not simply about making something visually attractive. It is about understanding a communication need and developing an appropriate visual response. Students are therefore encouraged to approach projects as creative problem-solvers.

Building Skills From Foundation to Specialisation
A JOURNEY TOWARDS PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
The academic journey progresses from foundational design knowledge to more advanced practical work.
At Level 400, students have the opportunity to select a specialisation, allowing them to develop greater depth in an area of interest while applying the knowledge gained throughout the programme.
This progression helps students move from learning fundamental principles to developing their own creative approaches and solving increasingly complex design problems.

The department brings together students, lecturers and creative professionals in an environment where ideas can be shared, explored and developed.
Collaboration is an important part of the learning experience. Students have opportunities to work individually and in teams, present their ideas, receive feedback and learn from different creative perspectives.
